Two Amazing Nights of Pretty Lights - The Fillmore & Red Rocks in Colorado

Check out this amazing video of both nights when Pretty Lights was in his home state of Colorado. RadioEditAV filmed both shows, edited this video to the song, by which Pretty Lights produced it. This song is a Pretty Lights version of a Led Zeppelin remix. I was at the Fillmore on the first night, but I watched the Red Rocks show on the mountain behind the venue the next night. As cool as being on the mountain was, I'm bummed I wasn't in the venue during this show...it looks AMAZING.

This past Friday night Kevin, Anna Brown, Brittany Wilson and I went to see Mindelixir at Cervantes music venue. Bill Schimel (who is Mindelixir) is from North Carolina where we are all from, so it was really cool to see someone we all have already met and seen in concert before. Starkey was the headliner at this show, but my favorite of the night was definitely Mindelixir. As his music can be placed in the dubstep category, he's also got his own personal sound as he incorporates funky jazz with a infused blend of bass music. The first time I saw Mindelixir was before Marty Party and The Glitch Mob almost a year ago and he rocked that crowd so well that I knew it would be a good show again in Denver. He gets so into his music that you can clearly tell how much he loves what he does, and also lets out some pretty awesome bass faces that gets the crowd excited and makes you want to be just as into the songs as he is! And speaking of The Glitch Mob, around this time last year Mindelixir won their "Drive It Like You Stole It" remix competition, check out that song here!

As you can tell from this totally normal picture above, we got the chance to hang out with Mindelixir and some other cool people backstage during Starkey's set. There are more weird pictures where this one came from too! Bill had some pretty funny ideas for pictures - needless to say it was a lot of fun hanging out with him. Anna also got on stage during his set and gave him a vodka shot! Haha, it was a great night. Definitely check this artist out!!! Sorry for the extremely loud bass in this video, but as you can tell I was in the very front, so you can't really blame my camera! And in the words of Mindelixir, "Denver's going down, to as low as the system at Cervantes will go," ...so you can see why this video's bass is monstrous! Mindelixir also hooked me up with one of his most recent album's, "Doomsday Ticket" and I've really been enjoying it! It's on iTunes if you want to check that out as well.

MARTYPARTY at Fox Theatre, August 20th 2011

MartyParty at Fox Theatre - Boulder, CO

MartyParty never disappoints! This past Saturday night I went to see him at Fox Theatre in Boulder, Colorado and it was so much fun! Marty Folb, who is MartyParty, has so much energy and gives off such a positive vibe during his shows. I also was praising him like the nicest guy in the world because about an hour before his show, I tweeted at him asking if he could hook one of my friends up with a ticket because she didn't know it sold out. Within minutes he tweeted back at me and asked for the name, and when we got there she was on the guest list. How awesome was that? Little things like that really will make you a loyal fan, and just because he did that for me and for my friend Anna Brown, I'm a bigger fan than I already was! I had only seen MartyParty once before last year when he opened for Glitch Mob, and he had that crowd going nuts for him! It was like it was his show and that he wasn't being an opener for somebody. PENDULUM, PRETTY LIGHTS X2, GHOSTLAND OBSERVATORY & THIEVERY CORPORATION, all in one week!

Pendulum at Beta Nightclub 8/10/11

LAST WEEK WAS SO CRAZY!!! I'm so glad none of my favorites are in Denver this week because we needed a break (until this Saturday that is)! Last Wednesday I saw Pendulum, then Friday & Saturday was Pretty Lights, then Sunday was Ghostland Observatory & Thievery Corporation! Let me get started!

Pendulum played at Beta Nightclub in Denver, CO and was a "DJ set" meaning it was just one guy from the group instead of all of them. At festivals and such you might see Pendulum's name listed as "Pendulum LIVE" because they are known for playing all of their music completely live on the stage, including other instruments along with their electronic sounds. Unfortunately I don't have a good video from Pendulum due to the fact that the place was small so every video I got was blasted with bass, but I got a few good pictures. Pendulum was really good though, and I definitely got my share of drum and bass for a while! Pendulum's most recent album called "Immersion" came out in January and includes some of my favorites like "Witchcraft" and "Set Me On Fire". Really glad I got to hear one of the guys since Pendulum is one of the groups we missed at Ultra. "Dirt Monkey" was playing in another room at Beta Nightclub and he was sick! Kevin and I walked over to that room about three times just because his songs were good each time we walked in. Funny name but maybe he'll be getting bigger soon? Who knows.

Pretty Lights at The Fillmore, Denver CO 8/12/11

Derek of Pretty Lights absolutely killed it at The Fillmore this past Friday night. It seriously was one of the best concerts I've been to recently and I got the same euphoric feeling that I get at Bassnectar shows, especially during "I Know The Truth". I can't explain this feeling but it's truly amazing and no other music has ever made me feel this way, so when this happens it's absolutely mesmerizing (and this is a whole other conversation I'll have to have another time)!  I was so happy this concert was so good though because the last time I saw PL in Raleigh, NC it wasn't that great. The venue didn't allow the music to be loud enough at all, and Derek hadn't come out with "I Know The Truth" yet, which is one of my favorite songs to date. The lights and lazers are also what blew me away this time at The Fillmore. They were AMAZING. Million dollar lights for sure! I'll have to admit it was the best light shows I've ever seen. Since PL in Raleigh hadn't been so good for Kevin and me, we waited too long to buy our Pretty Lights Red Rocks tickets since we were questionable about going both nights, so of course it sold out like 3 months ago and we didn't get to go. However, not only did this save us money, but we got to experience a different side of Red Rocks that everyone has got to experience one time or another in their life. We literally hiked/climbed the mountain behind Red Rocks Amphitheatre, and watched the show from the mountain, along with many other groups of people spread out around the area. This climb was no joke either. I felt like I had just ran a marathon by the time I got to the spot where we watched the show, so if you ever decide to do this, wear tennis shoes and bring a flash light! Anyways, it was absolutely beautiful looking out over Morrison and Denver, Colorado, along with the sound being fabulous. You could hear every song perfectly, literally. I took many videos to prove it. I hate that the quality isn't better, but hey our only light source was the moon. Check it out.

After making it all the way up and then back down this mountain safely, I busted my butt walking down a hill into the parking lot. Haha, not cool! But other than that, this night was really fun and eventful. Eventful because we met a lot of interesting people on the mountain! You will too if you ever decide to do this, not to mention you see glow-sticks, cell-phone lights, and flash lights every direction you look! The next night was Ghostland Observatory and Thievery Corporation. Kevin and I have been excited for this one for months!

Ghostland Observatory is so good in concert. Kevin and I had seen them once before in Charleston last year, and we were so surprised at how good that show was that time that we knew to be excited for them at Red Rocks. I found it interesting that someone as upbeat and crazy as Ghostland was playing before Thievery Corporation, since Thievery's music is a lot more chill than Ghostland's, but it was a blast and I thought it was a great match. My videos from both of these are kind of nuts because it was raining, but I believe I still captured how sick the night was! The rain also made Ghostland's lazers look glittery, which was really cool. Ghostland & Thievery both use electronic synthesizers to make their music, but they also incorporate instruments live on stage as well. Thievery does this even more so than Ghostland as I'll describe after the Ghostland video below.

Ghostland Observatory is made up of two guys (one that ALWAYS wears a cape and plays the keyboard, gotta love it) and Thievery Corporation is mainly two guys (that started the whole group) but they incorporate many other instrumentalists and singers/rappers. Check Thievery out in this video below.

If you didn't know before, you can probably tell from that video that Thievery depicts many different type of genres, including reggae, classical Indian, and Middle Eastern. They also incorporate dub and have rappers that come on stage as well. They are really an awesome group and I own both of their newest albums, "It Takes A Thief", and "Culture of Fear" - both of which I highly recommend. Culture of Fear just recently came out and my favorite on the album is "Fragments" - this song relaxes me, I love it. :-)

What a fun-filled week. And guess what? During the time it took to write this blog post I found out that someone good IS in Denver this week. Shoulda known. Minnesota is at Cervantes in Denver tonight. Kevin and I considered going at the last minute but we realized we just can't do it all out here! Haha, so we're looking forward to Marty Party this Saturday in Boulder. Apparently Big Gigantic, Paper Diamond, and Robotic Pirate Monkey will be playing in Boulder before Marty Party this Saturday too... GEEZE!!!! :-D

FLUX PAVILION & DOCTOR P - Sold Out Fillmore in Denver, Colorado

WOW. I cannot believe Flux & Doctor P hadn't played in the "dubstep capital of America" until this past Saturday!!! They both were so pumped up for this show because they had been hearing things for weeks about how crazy this crowd was going to be for them, and we proved them right!

I was so excited for this show because not only are Flux Pavilion & Doctor P two of my top favorite music producers, but it was my birthday at midnight during the show! As soon as we got through the gates of the venue, there were Circus clowns walking around everywhere! To explain this, Flux Pavilion and Doctor P share a music label called "Circus Records." These guys not only come as a package deal pretty much wherever you see them, but they also have been really good friends for a long time. Everyone was loving the circus clowns! Including my best friend Anna and me (she just moved to Denver as well, how perfect?!)

I also thought The Fillmore was one of the coolest venues I've been to. You walk in having no idea what to expect since it looks like such a small building on a street corner, to find a huge dance floor and stage directly in front of you. The Fillmore in North Carolina is big just like this one, except the one in NC has many more elevated floors. They both share the gorgeous purple-ish/pink chandeliers though which I think are really cool and a nice touch! Doctor P isn't as popular as Flux Pavilion yet, but I know he's going to get there because everyone goes absolutely nuts at his shows, and I love every single one of his songs. I was surprised I didn't capture more of the crowd in that video, but don't you worry... check out THIS video below of Flux playing "Gold Dust"at the end of the show. Being that this song is probably his most popular, the crowd went insane!!!

Seriously if these two guys ever come to your town, do not miss the show. Tickets will sell out fast for these two and you can see why! Datsik (Raleigh 7/16) & The Glitch Mob (Asheville 7/17)

Hey everybody! I can't believe it. Kevin and I are completely moved into our apartment in Denver, Colorado and we couldn't be more happy and excited. We got our Internet hooked up yesterday (finally), so I'm glad I now have access to my blog again since I haven't gotten the chance to tell about the Datsik and Glitch Mob shows I went to recently in North Carolina.

Datsik was dat SIK... haha. But no really, I was so happy to finally get to see him without any interruptions because at Ultra and Starscape Music Festivals we didn't get to see his entire set due to other producers playing at the same time. I am a huge dubstep fan, so if you are too then Datsik would be a music producer you definitely should go and see if you get the chance. He didn't play two of my favorite songs of his, "Wake Up Call" and "Southpaw" but he played all of the rest, including "Animale"which Elise Goodrich and I freaked out to the second it came on. :-D Check out my video below of Datsik at the Lincoln Theatre in Raleigh. Datsik dove into the crowd TWICE too. YES, in Raleigh! Haha I didn't think the Raleigh crowd would be crazy enough for him but we pulled through! He even mentioned that he was surprised at how pumped up the crowd was (and in the first picture of this blog post you can sort of see I captured one of the jumps). At the end, he stuck around to shake some people's hands and Kevin, being 6'6'', just yelled "YO TROY" (Datsik's name) and he turned around and gave Kevin his full attention which was pretty funny. Fortunately this gave us girls the opportunity to get a picture with him! Needless to say, Datsik was sick in concert and makes sick music. I look forward to his new stuff in the future.

The next night was The Glitch Mob in Asheville, NC at The Orange Peel, a very well-known venue in the music industry. This was my 5th time seeing these guys, and they have changed up their show in so many ways each time I've seen them (for example they have completely new lights that you can see in the last picture of this post). I also feel personally connected to them (there are 3 guys in the Glitch Mob, Edit, Ooah, and Boreta are their separate producer names) as the first time I saw them in Greensboro, NC over a year ago we all got to meet and talk to them for a while after the show and I've talked to them many times since via social media networks. The crowd was also not very big that first time I saw them, but each time I've seen them it's gotten bigger (not to mention they played before Bassnectar at Bass Center 2 this past February which was a sold out convention center). It is so cool to see how much they've grown over the last year, and I look forward to seeing them expand in this music industry even more in the future. At this specific show, they had a female performer on stage during a few songs. I'm talking like Cirque Du Soleil style female performer, doing crazy exotic dances while swinging and hanging from a curtain! See for yourself in my video below.

Crazy right? She definitely added that extra something to their show! She also knew what the hell she was doing! I'm not sure if she's with them on tour or not, but I'd say it's a pretty clever tactic for The Glitch Mob to do. After the show, the guys stuck around as usual to say hello to their fans, and Elise Goodrich and I lucked out with signed drumsticks from Edit! I'm currently displaying one of these in my new apartment in Denver ;-) haha.. but then of course we asked to take a picture with him, and then we got to take a picture with Boreta too.

If you aren't an extreme bass fan but are interested in chiller upbeat electronic music, I'd definitely recommend The Glitch Mob. These guys just came out with a new EP a few weeks ago called, "We Can Make the World Stop" which you can check out on iTunes or at their website. If you want to hear an oldie but a goodie, listen to "Drive It Like You Stole It". The Glitch Mob has a really interesting style (that is also easy to recognize) and that's another reason why I like them so much. They show you exactly how they make their music right there on stage in front of you and incorporate drums while doing so. They're also SUPER nice. :-)

Now that I'm a Denver resident I'll be hitting up Flux Pavilion and Doctor P this Saturday night!!! My birthday is Sunday so since I'll be at the show at midnight on Saturday, I'm considering this show my birthday party. :-D Pretty freakin' excited since Flux and Doctor P are two of my favorite music producers. Sick videos and pics will be coming I'm sure!

INDIDGINUS Music & his Album "Sofa Surfer" Release on July 23rd

Hey everyone! I have so much information to share with you and so little time to get it all out before I move to Denver on July 30th! From being in Europe (which was amazing) to going to Datsik & Glitch Mob the day I got back, to discovering Indidginus (which I am very excited to tell you guys about), and finding time to pack up and visit with family and friends I barely have time to write this blog post, but I am for those of you reading it right now. :-)

First off I'd like to introduce you to INDIDGINUS. Click that link to visit the Facebook page for more information about who Indidginus is. He has completed his dubstep, dub, and dancehall inspired album "Sofa Surfer", featuring collaborations with Teba Shumba, EJ Von Lyrik, Steve Newman, Fletcher, Raggasouljah, 7Ft Soundsystem, Francesca Krnjak, Riccardo Moretti, HFB, Seb Taylor, Suns of Arqa, Tripswitch, Colin Angus and OOOD, which has a set a release date of July 23rd, 2011. This album will be a digital release on his own imprint, Indidgital. He also put an album mix up on Soundcloud and you can get free high res downloads from his bandcamp page. I personally really like "Hold Your Vision" and "Sunrise Over Sapporo", definitely check those two out!

Indidginus's album has garnered early support from Adrian Sherwood, The Orb, Liquid Stranger, Greg Hunter, Adham Shaikh, iLL Gates and Unity Radio amongst others. He's collaborating with some outstanding people and is happy to be promoting some of the best local Cape Town talent! The Red Bull Music Studios in Cape Town have stated that they think his album is perhaps the best bass & beats album of the year and they asked him into their studios in June to write an exclusive track for them. Indidginus also has a guestmix and phone interview lined up for 5FM (their biggest FM radio station) on July 21st at 6pm if anyone in the area is interested in listening! And, some of the coolest news is that he could possibly be touring with iLL Gates at some point in time, which my fellow Bassnectar fans know is someone obviously credible to work with.

BASSNECTAR at Red Rocks Amphitheatre 6/18/11

Ten thousand people sold out this amazing venue in Morrison, CO and Kevin & I experienced this entire show on the very front row among all of these people. This night was truly magical, as it was one of the biggest shows Bassnectar has ever had. The 10,000 people aren't the only thing that made it magical though, as I'm saying this because I saw certain people act in ways that I wouldn't have predicted. I'm not going to mention any names for this one, but I saw one person in particular that was seriously having the time of their life dancing and listening to Bassnectar's music. This person is kind of "behind the scenes" and so it was amazing to see someone so close to Lorin still have that much enthusiasm and energy during one of his shows. Sometimes at concerts you see friends or people that work for an artist just sitting down, looking at their cell phone, or just simply never smiling, but it was making my night to see how much this person was enjoying Bassnectar's show. Lorin himself, (not just his music) also made his set that much better because of how appreciative he was that we all were there for him. He thanked us all so many times and made us all take a minute to realize how valuable life is, and how amazing it is that we were all alive at that very moment. Lorin is truly an inspiring person, and him and his music have inspired me in so many different ways (this blog for one example).

To back up the night a little bit, Eskmo opened before Beats Antique before Bassnectar and was really interesting and unique! Throughout his set he used different objects to create sounds on the microphone like squeezing a water bottle, ripping a piece of paper, and opening a Coca-Cola can. Sounds kind of weird I know, but it was actually pretty cool. He also said/sang things on the microphone that added more sound(s) to his songs. Check out my video of Eskmo below. The crowd was just building at this point in the night. Kevin & I had spoke with Phillip Irwin before getting to Red Rocks about what time we should get there so we could get front row at the show. We ended up getting there around 3o'clock and to our surprise, no one was in line yet at one of the entrances for Red Rocks. So, we started the line along with Phillip and some of his friends that he came with. Yes, we were first in line to get into Red Rocks. Below is proof (although we look very tiny!) that we were in line first, as Stacy Morrow took this picture of us waiting to get into the venue! Haha, so cool that she could capture this moment.

Waiting to get into the venue wasn't the least bit boring either. About every 5 minutes a new group of bassheads would drive up and join us in line, so that part flew by so fast. Soon enough it was time to get into the venue, and we felt like little kids as security was yelling at us not to run as we were trying to beat the two other entrances for the front row. Needless to say, we got to the front row. :-) Center too!

This picture was taken after Eskmo, before Beats Antique. Beats Antique was SO GOOD! I have been so excited to see them, and they made it even better that they played my three favorite songs of theirs! Egyptic, Nesatovo, & Daze - all three of those are so good. My video below is when they played "Nesatovo" Kevin's personal favorite!

When Beats Antique first started playing, it was only two guys, and I was curious if that was it because I had always seen and pictured more people on stage (like the bellydancer) in the past, but she soon popped on stage, along with another musician. There were also other women who were dancers for Beats Antique who are part of every show on tour, not just added for certain shows. They all make up what is called Beats Antique and they put on a great and really cool show.

At the end of Beats Antique set, Bassnectar's AmBASSadors (the ones working for this specific show) got to come out and dance WITH Beats Antique. How cool is that? I'm not sure who is who because of the masks, but I was so excited when this happened for all of them! The crowd loved it too! (The AmBASSadors also did a great job at this show... giving people lots of water, full on fruit trays, and slices of pizza too, it was crackin' me up!)

Next up ...the one and only... Bassnectar!!! By this time in the night Kevin & I couldn't have been more ready for him to come on! I never can decide if I should video the intro because if I video it, I can't fully enjoy it but then when I do video it, it's so sick to watch later (haha) so I decided that at this amazing venue I should just enjoy the intro, which I did to the fullest. Howeverrr I took three really amazing videos throughout the night. They are about 3 minutes each, and so sick when they catch the veryyy back of the crowd. Check. Them. Out.

This concert was seriously so awesome. It was in Colorado, our new state as of August, and I'm praying Bassnectar comes back again sometime this year! I can't believe he's going to be all over the east coast as soon as we move. Two shows in North Carolina too! Bass Center IV is also right after the two NC shows on September 24th and is in Washington DC. So all of you on the east coast better go for me!

Lorin said that quote above at the beginning of his set at Red Rocks, and it's so true - at least for me it is. His music is seriously like nothing else out there. I cannot WAIT until August 2nd when Divergent Spectrum comes out. Early birthday present to myself!

While visiting in Denver this past week, Kevin & I also checked out Skism at the Bluebird Theatre. As usual, we were so glad we did! Not only because Skism was sick, but the opening acts were awesome too! We missed Subliminal, but Dodger was really good, and then Jantsen was even better. Jantsen, who I actually got to meet after the show because I recently have become friends with Stacy Morrow (who's pictures I mentioned above) who is his girlfriend! Below is a picture of me with Stacy & Jantsen.

Jantsen had so much energy and really got the crowd excited and into his set! I hate when I don't see that out of music producers but when I do I know they have the talent to make it in this music industry. Jantsen's music was definitely sick and I look forward to seeing him again! (He also has made songs with Bassnectar! Heard Blast Off??? YEAH!)

Skism at Bluebird Theatre in Denver, CO

Skism was great too! I had only heard a few of his songs before the concert, like "Power" but he put on a really good show and I'd see him again. Definitely an artist to check out if you're a dub lover! Kevin & I were super excited about being at the Bluebird Theatre also because we can walk to it from our new apartment in Denver, how convenient for us? :-D Skism called the crowd the "Dubstep Capitol of the United States," which we thought was pretty cool since this is our new city.

I may not be blogging again until I get back from Europe! I'm leaving this week but will be back July 15th, then heading to see Datsik on the 16th and Glitch Mob on the 17th. I'll be jet-lagged as hell, but...I can't miss either of those two. So talk to you then!!! ;-)

STARSCAPE MUSIC FESTIVAL 2011!

Well well well. All of my anticipation and butterflies I had before this festival definitely lived up to my expectations, as Starscape Music Festival was as good as it gets. If you like dubstep, this was the festival for you this year because there were so many awesome dubstep names on this ticket, along with many other electronic music artists! Like the shirts Kevin and I are wearing?

When we first arrived, we (Kevin, Patrick, Elise & I) walked around to scope out the entire place and to check out what each stage looked like. This festival, which took place in Baltimore, MD, was also located right on the water, which made the venue even more fun and entertaining. The first group we wanted to see was Zeds Dead, check out my video below. Remember to mute my music playlist before you watch!

Zeds Dead was really good and I'm glad because the last time I tried to see them they had technical problems! Next was a lot of waiting until our big favorites came on, but that didn't matter because there were plenty of other artists we wanted to check out before the late night shows began. I really enjoyed EOTO! I had no idea that EOTO was made up of two old guys - that have great music! One of the guys was even singing every lyric you heard, in different accents too! That's usually not the norm in electronic music so this made them pretty unique and cool. We caught parts of Subvert and a lot of Doorly too! My EOTO & Doorly videos are below. Doorly is playing "Raindrops" in that video, however the sound is pretty distorted because I was standing literally right in front of some subs (blame me?) Oh and someone flicks me off at the end of my EOTO video, haha!

After checking everybody else out that we could during the day, Bassnectar finally was ready to come on at 11pm. He opened with "Teleport Massive" and from then on out the crowd went nuts. Of course since it was outside, glowsticks were being thrown every time the bass dropped (fortunately not at Lorin, he hates glowsticks!) - check out my video of that happening below! It also started raining during his set, which was actually pretty cool. And coming from a girl with curly hair, I usually don't like rain, but I don't think anything could ever upset me at a Bassnectar concert.

You can watch my other two Bassnectar videos from Starscape here & here. Needless to say, Bassnectar was my favorite show of the night. The crowd was huge (he played at the Main Stage and was the only act of Starscape that was allotted two hours!) and I had no idea how big it was until I saw the family photo and also someone's video of the crowd on facebook a couple days ago. This poster that I'm talking about that I also mentioned in my last post was a great success! I got a lot of compliments from it but what actually counts is that Lorin saw it, told me "I love this!!!" and then patted me on the head because of it. Pretty much was the cherry on top of his whole show! Kevin, Elise & Patrick also got high fives from Lorin since we were smart and waited around on the front rail for him to come down and talk to his fans. :-) Here's us on the rail with my poster!

Unfortunately because of Bassnectar we had to miss most of Datsik and all of Skrillex, but Flux Pavilion, Excision, and Doctor P made up for that! (There were also a lot of other artists I would have loved to see like TC, Feed Me, and Dieselboy but there just wasn't time for it). Flux & Doctor P were so sick - both were really equally awesome. When Doctor P was on stage he was accompanied by Flux, Datsik, AND Skrillex so it was a pretty entertaining set! Excision probably was up there too, but I don't remember catching him in any of my videos or pictures. Skrillex also played "Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites" during Doctor P's set so I was happy to get a little Skrillex fix in since we had to miss him. Check out my Flux & Doctor P videos below! And by the way, Doctor P has the funniest English accent! It almost sounded like he was joking every time he said something on the microphone because it was such an intense accent, haha! 

After and between these two was when we saw Excision and then also Dirtyphonics, Steve Aoki, Paper Diamond, and Rabbit. Excision was awesome but since he was between Flux & Doctor P we wanted to check out the other stages most of the time so we could experience different places in the festival more. Steve Aoki's show was going nuts as usual! When we walked up to the Dance Tent, he was poppin' champagne and preparing to get into an inner-tube with Skrillex! Haha yes, check out the video of that here! And boy was Rabbit interesting. We walked up the hill after catching most of Paper Diamond (also good) to see all sorts of gimmicks going on during the Rabbit show. Not only were the two main guys wearing rabbit-earred gas masks, but there were dancers on stage wearing similar costumes - and dancing somewhat creepily I may add! Despite the initial shock of the weirdness going on, it made the end to the night really fun and entertaining. I only got to hear about three of their songs so I can't say whether or not I like their music, but the three I heard were pretty good. Below are pictures from Rabbit, had to show you guys...

Well, thank you so much for reading my blog post about Starscape! It really is an ideal festival because although 3 or 4 day festivals are awesome when it's all said and done, this one being all in one day really lets you just party all day and into the night versus having to get some sleep! Next up for Kevin & me is Bassnectar at Red Rocks. Yep, Bassnectar again so soon. How lucky are we? And at one of the coolest venues in the world. My Bassnectar Red Rocks blog post might be just as long as this one since there is going to be so much awesomeness packed into one show (Beats Antique opens for Bassnectar that night)! So exciteddddd.

Bassnectar & Bass Center III Date Announced!

Bassnectar and his crew on really on the ball lately! Bass Island hasn't even happened yet and they already have a date set for Bass Center III. It will be held on September 17th in San Francisco, CA at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium. Who's excited??? Not exactly driving distance from Denver, CO but I think Kevin & I are somehow going to make this one happen for us since we can't go to Bass Island. Big Gigantic and Dan Deacon will also be at Bass Center III. Bassnectar also announced the first 7 places that he will be stopping for his Fall Tour! Check out those dates here.

Along with the announcement of Bass Center III, Bassnectar also told us that his Divergent Spectrum EP is completed! Lorin says this EP "disregards the rules and spans of the spectrum of sonic shenanigans: from dark to light, heavy to soft, and pretty to UGLY." He played some of the songs on it during Spring Tour, but some haven't been heard by anyone, and I can't wait to buy it the second it comes out!

I'm headed to Baltimore, MD tomorrow night for STARSCAPE! I couldn't be more excited. I even made a poster for Lorin, haha so I'll be uploading pictures of it after this weekend. The set times were announced last week and it's going to be a lateee night! Doctor P doesn't even come on until 3 am....and Paper Diamond until 5am? Bring it Starscape!!!
