Polish Ambassador/Bass Center 2/Kraddy, Archnemesis, Love & Light all in one week.

Elise & me with The Polish Ambassador
Good gosh! My last blog post was February 15th and I have SO much to talk about that has happened this past week! Maybe I need to blog more? Anywho, I went to the Polish Ambassador/Ample Mammal (it's the same guy) concert last Tuesday. About 4 or 5 people opened for him, and when he came on it was kind of sad how small the crowd was. Being a PR major, I constantly am thinking about the promotion of, well everything, so when I am at a show and I see a small crowd, it makes me wish I had been hired to do PR for the guy because I could tell he had talent that could have been advertised to many people beforehand. I got the chance to meet him afterwards and I let him know that he needed to change his Twitter name from his real name to his stage name, because if you are trying to get your stage name publicized, that is what your user name needs to be on something like Twitter, especially if you are just starting out. Despite the small crowd I really enjoyed his music and can see him getting more popular over the next year, as long he keeps up with his social media! Did I mention I discovered him through Pandora? This past summer songs by him would play on there constantly. My favorites are Portal Hopping & Cozza Frenzy by Bassnectar, Ample Mammal Remix that I mentioned in an earlier blog post. Below is a video from the show, it's a Michael Jackson remix.

Next up: Bass Center 2. I'm not sure if one blog post can cover the amount of awesomeness that was packed into this particular night. Being an AmBASSador for Bassnectar's Bass Center 2 required me to be at the venue at 12:30pm. I was on my feet for 14 hours! However, every hour was worth it, and it went by entirely too fast. After orientation of the venue that I thought I was already familiar with because MoogFest took place there, I learned very quickly that there were many places that I wouldn't even have known existed if it weren't for being a behind the scenes ambassador. We got to see all the places of the venue, got to listen to Bassnectar's soundcheck (and other soundchecks too which was SO cool because it was an empty venue, with extremely LOUDDD music) so that really was a great experience - got to be airbrushed by professionals, got to hang out with the Bassnectar crew, obviously including Lorin & got to take an "ambassador family photo" with him ..and lots lots more.. Not to mention making friends that I will have a special bond with forever. Let me just hook ya up with some stuff below.

If you are reading this you are most likely my Facebook friend, so check out the rest of my pictures there in my album called BASScApaDes! I took a lot and they all show way more of my night than the ones above. This night really means a lot to me, as I not only got to be part of something that I am so passionate about, but I helped create the craziest night Bassnectar has ever made for an audience. As Lia (Bassnectar's legittt assistant) put it, we weren't just there, we helped make it happen. We created memories for attendees of this event by stepping outside of ourselves to become a creature of Bass culture. We all put on our white costumes with our white matching t-shirts and were vibrant, engaging, beautiful, loud, obnoxious, adventurous, and absolutely fearless! "It is your job to teach everyone that play is an essential part of being human." I'll never forget that quote. Below is a picture of my "crew" & me...running around the venue with what we called "OCTO FUNKA BASS." No we don't even know what that means, but everyone loved it!!! That's what this night was all about. Apparently some people thought it was a spider, haha.

I wasn't just an AmBASSador for this show either as I'm now officially one for any show or Bass Center in the future! I liked how our t-shirts implied this, as it read "Ambassador since 2011". I can't image what this culture will be like in 5 years - even 1 year. Bassnectar is spreading like a wild fire and we all just want it to for the right reasons. As we talked about before the show, we do want it to spread. We want people to come out and dress up and have the time of their lives at these shows - but not because it is what's cool. We want people to come who really love the music and the whole experience that comes along with being a Bassnectar fan. We'll see where it leads us! Check out my videos from Bass Center below. This first one is when we ambassadors got to take this humongous dragon through the crowd. To my surprise, the 8,000 people there literally just moved out of our way! It was insanely awesome! (Remember to mute my music playlist on the top right).

Thennnn, get this! So the Glitch Mob played before Bassnectar at Bass Center 2. Glitch Mob is probably my #2 next to Bassnectar...and I tweeted at them with a video I took at Bass Center of their newest song. Not only did they retweet my video, but they messaged me telling me that they were going to post it on Facebook! Because of this I'm currently at 4,017 views for that specific video! Haha I love it. I'm surprised that they liked this video too because although I have an HD camera, there were so many lights at Bass Center that my camera could hardly focus on what was what. Also, the sound quality isn't perfect, but again, the bass was ridiculous there. (And I would know, I could barely BE in the front at Bass Center without wishing I had earplugs). Anywho - here's that video below!

I personally like this video below better, but I bet Glitch Mob was trying to promote their new song right now.

You can also check out my YouTube Channel kcdavmusic if you want to see my other videos, including some amazing ones from Bassnectar on New Years Eve. I'm also in the making of a "My Life...Your Entertainment" numero DOS that will be extremely better than the last one.

Wednesday night, Bassnectar played in Birmingham, Alabama. Kevin & I jokingly talked about going, but knew it really would have been ridiculous for us to drive 9 1/2 hours when we both had obligations in NC the next day. Sooo we obviously didn't go, and boy am I jealous of the AmBASSadors who did. One of my closest ambassador friends, Eduardo Castañeda went along with 3 other ambassadors that could make it and had the time of their lives. They got to be in front of the entire crowd (like we were supposed to at Bass Center but didn't because of security) got to talk & hang out with Lorin, and got to be VIP at a normal Bassnectar show. This is what I'm looking forward to as an ambassador in the future!!! I. Can. Not. Wait.

Tuesday, February 22nd, Kevin & I went to the Kraddy & Archnemesis concert at the Lincoln Theatre. I had heard of Kraddy because he used to be a part of Glitch Mob back in the day, but when I spoke to him he really wouldn't give me an explanation why he wasn't anymore? Wonder the story there. ....But anyway, Love & Light played before them both and they were awesome! I was fortunate enough to meet everyone who performed at the Lincoln Theatre that night, and also gave Love & Light some PR tips ;-), which comes to me naturally these days. They actually contacted me on Facebook so I'm excited about possibly helping them out in the future.

After Love & Light, Archnemesis played and they were good. Not as friendly as Love & Light, but their music was definitely something worth going to a concert for! Well, if you like electronic music. :-D

Thennnn I met Kraddy!

To wrap up, I want to announce that Ultra Music Festival is SOLD OUT and in 28 days!!! Exactly one month away from today! I can't believe it's so close. Seventeen of my favorites are currently playing at Ultra, and apparently they still have a "Phase 3" of artists to announce so I can't imagine who else will be there.

Here are a few of my favorite songs toDAY. They change so much. Tip: probably shouldn't listen if you just woke up...even though I would :-)

Bass Down Low - The Cataracs - Proper Villains Remix
Oh My Gosh - Basement Jaxx - Broke DJ's Remix
Daze - Beats Antique
Animale - Don Diablo ft. Dragonette - Datsik Remix
It Ain't Got a Name - TC & Joker
Sandstorm - Darude - Vaski Remix
Who's That Chick - David Guetta
& then same song as above, but the Afrojack Remix - way more upbeat!

Also, my friend Nick from ThisSongIsSick.Com just sent me about 70 of these stickers. Let me know if you want one!

Girl Talk and a little chit chat...

Girl Talk played in Raleigh, NC on January 27th and it was outrageously good! Not to mention that this venue was a great place for concerts - more music artists need to come to Disco Rodeo! I wasn't as excited as usual about going to Girl Talk because his music isn't something that I would really listen to as my music of choice, just because it is popular songs that he remixes into his own songs. This music does however make for a good dance party (or exercise music definitely). So I guess it does sound like I'm contradicting myself a bit here, because I consider Bassnectar's concerts a dance party, but the difference is this. Bassnectar's music (oh ya know just for example ;)) is music that I love because of Lorin's omni-tempo maximalism personal touch that he puts on his songs, mixed with incredible basslines. Girl Talk is like, "how low can ya go...." and "you make me wanna SHOUT!" all mixed into one. So, although both Bassnectar and Girl Talk use all different types of music to make their own, Girl Talk is much more recognizable by any audience because of the popularity of the songs he uses, where as Bassnectar's music is definitely his own by a long shot. Watch my video of the Girl Talk concert to hear what I'm trying to explain! Some electronic music artists are like the way I described Bassnectar's music as I have found that many artists or groups "sound" is very recognizable. For instance, when I hear The Glitch Mob or Pretty Lights or Big Gigantic's songs, there is a unique musical sound that each group makes in their songs, allowing their fans to recognize their music. This obviously doesn't work for every song, but trust me if you like any of the music artists I just listed, you know what I mean. Orrrr maybe I'm just a nut, and am too obsessed with those groups. Either way, I love the fact that I can point out a Glitch Mob song on a commercial without being told it was them, even when it's one I've never heard before. :) (It happens.)

So back to Girl Talk. It was nuts! Confetti left and right, balloons coming out of no where, toilet paper being blasted into the crowd. Then, even bigger balloons were shot out of no where that were filled with confetti that would get popped by the ceiling fans and it was like New Years all over again! Haha, it really was great. Very wasteful of course but Girl Talk puts on a great show with lots of shenanigans that keeps the crowd going. Below is the video I took of what I called the BLOB! (Remember to mute my Ipod playlist on the right).

I really had so much fun at this concert, but I wish there had been more room to dance. I don't think this venue gets crowds like this often, and they definitely sold the place out + more. The bouncers didn't even scan a lot of the people's tickets so I'm sure it was wayyy over capacity! Check out my video below of the FINALE!

I'm going to the Polish Ambassador/Ample Mammal concert this coming Tuesday, February 15th! I am so excited about this as I discovered the Polish Ambassador this past summer and really love a lot of his songs...but I JUST discovered Ample Mammal (who is actually the same guy, just a side project of his) and am currently obsessed with this song, "Cozza Frenzy by Bassnectar, Ample Mammal Remix". The concert will be at the Greene Street Club in Greensboro, NC and tickets only cost FIVE dollaz.

Here are some more of my favorites by this guy.
